About Pillars of Practice (PoP)

Pillars of Practice is an ongoing continuing education series facilitated by members of the Pulse Wellness Cooperative team. This program provides a comprehensive calendar of continuing education trainings approved by NASW. All PoP trainings are designed to fulfill one or more Board requirements for Ethics, Suicide prevention, Cultural Competency, and/or Supervision for registered supervisors. Each offering will list which of these areas is met upon completion.

**In keeping with our cooperative values, we are dedicated to making our programming accessible and affordable. This is a collaborative process in which we commit to reasonable pricing, and participants agree to share in this balance by paying a little more, when they are able, to ensure that everyone has access to high-quality continuing education, without cost being a barrier. Paying the $150 ($50/CEU) rate ensures we can continue to provide sliding-scale, scholarship, and free access to practitioners in need while valuing the labor and expertise of our staff, and honoring the trust of our membership.

Meet your facilitator:

Rosanne Marmor, MSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Pulse Wellness. Cooperative  Rosanne worked as a social worker in the field of housing and services for over 25 years.  Rosanne has been doing trainings and providing CEUs for clinicians for over a decade and has deep experience with suicide prevention and working with people of all ages.  Rosanne has dedicated her life to serving young people and the elderly.  She has worked in housing organizations, gang prevention, and public schools, as well as in community spaces and places for young people and their families.  Rosanne also does training and consulting for organizations on trauma-informed practice, de-escalation techniques, and radical self-care.

These trainings adhere to the NASW standards of social justice and anti-oppressive practice through:

• Cross Cultural Knowledge: Through developing specialized knowledge and understanding that is inclusive of, but not limited to, the history, values, and artistic expressions of client’s professional and personal identities attributed to people in the sex trades impacted by race and ethnicity; immigration and refugee status; tribal groups; religion and spirituality; sexual orientation; gender identity or expression; social class; and mental or physical abilities of various cultural groups.
• Cross ­Cultural Skills: Social workers will use a broad range of skills (micro, mezzo, and macro) and techniques that demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the importance of culture in practice, policy, and research.
• Service Delivery: Social workers shall be knowledgeable about and skillful in the use of services, resources, and institutions and be available to serve multicultural communities. They shall be able to make culturally appropriate referrals within both formal and informal networks and shall be cognizant of, and work to address, service gaps affecting specific cultural groups.
• Empowerment and Advocacy: Social workers shall be aware of the impact of social systems, policies, practices, and programs on multicultural client populations, advocating for, with, and on behalf of multicultural clients and client populations whenever appropriate. Social workers should also participate in the development and implementation of policies and practices that empower and advocate for marginalized and oppressed populations.
• Professional Education: Social workers shall advocate for, develop, and participate in professional education and training programs that advance cultural competence within the profession. Social workers should embrace cultural competence as a focus of lifelong learning.
