Beyond Clinical Practice: Creating a Professional Will

A Professional Will protects your legacy, your clients, and your colleagues. Every practicing therapist is required to have a plan for their clients’ care in the event of their death, illness, or injury rendering them unable to practice or communicate.

Even if we are comfortable holding space for others’ grief, it can be challenging to face our own mortality and to plan for the unimaginable – especially if we’re trying to do it alone.  While you may have a Custodian of Record listed with your Board, how much have you really considered what this means? How much have you considered the impact your unexpected death would have on your clients and colleagues? How much thought have you put into the details of what you might wish to leave behind professionally?

In this 4-hour interactive workshop, participants will explore the ethics of end-of-life planning for therapists while completing their own professional will in community with peers. Facilitator Rosanne Marmor, LCSW, guides the group through a supportive, thoughtful process using her specially designed template and prompts. Participants will need the name and information of their Professional Executor (Custodian of Record).

About Pillars of Practice (PoP)

Pillars of Practice is an ongoing continuing education series facilitated by members of the Pulse Wellness Cooperative team. This program provides a comprehensive calendar of continuing education trainings approved by NASW. All PoP trainings are designed to fulfill Board requirements for Clinical Practice, Ethics, Suicide Prevention, Cultural Competency, and/or Supervision for registered supervisors. Each offering will list which of these areas is met upon completion.

*Participants can register for one or more trainings at a time. Returning participants enter Coupon Code: pwc10 at checkout. Contact events@pulsewellness.coop if you require financial assistance.

**In keeping with our cooperative values, we are dedicated to making our programming accessible and affordable. This is a collaborative process in which we commit to reasonable pricing, and participants agree to share in this balance by paying a little more, when they are able, to ensure everyone has access to high-quality continuing education, without cost being a barrier. Paying the $280 ($70/CEU) rate ensures we can continue to provide sliding-scale, scholarship, and free access to practitioners in need while valuing the labor and expertise of our staff, and honoring the trust of our membership.
