Relationship therapy for all
Supporting you in
Your unique relationship
Just as you are unique, every relationship is a unique ecosystem. Whether you’re navigating partnership, exploring your relationship with yourself outside of partnership, or redefining what connection means to you: you deserve a supportive and nonjudgmental space.
Pulse Wellness Cooperative provides compassionate relationship therapy that is radically inclusive.
Your relationship(s), your rules: inclusive counseling for all kinds of relationships
Despite everything you’ve heard: there is no “one right way” to be in a relationship. Our practice is a safe harbor for all forms of consensual and affirming connection. Our therapists are proudly queer and poly-positive, kink-aware, and deeply committed to providing trans-affirming care.
Our clients include:
- Individuals seeking to understand their attachment styles and patterns in relationship
- Sexual dynamics and navigating differing sexual needs in relationships
- Traditional relationships and marriages
- Queer, LGBTQIA+, trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse partnerships
- Polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous relationships, including couples, triads, quads, and other relationship multiples
- BDSM/kink dynamics and alternative lifestyles
- Aromantic and asexual spectra
- Sex workers and their partnerships
No matter your configuration, we meet you where you are, without judgment.
Some of our approaches to Relationship Counseling:
Relationship challenges
When a relationship is impacted by societal inequalities, chronic illness, disability, past trauma, or neurotype differences like ADHD or autism, the path forward can feel isolating and overwhelming. The traditional rules of partnership may no longer apply, leading to feelings of grief, resentment, codependency or misunderstanding. You might be navigating complex roles as both partner and caregiver; struggling with intimacy due to physical or emotional pain; or feeling disconnected because your brains simply process the world differently.
At Pulse Wellness Cooperative, we understand that most relationships do not have an “even” playing ground—and sometimes, the ground continuously shifts. These aren’t problems to be “fixed” but profound experiences to be navigated together. Our compassionate approach provides a supportive space to honor your unique struggles, process the grief of changed expectations, and rebuild a sense of shared understanding from a place of mutual respect.
Relationship solutions
We focus on practical strategies to improve communication, especially when stress is high and energy is low.
Together, we’ll work to establish sustainable boundaries, redefine intimacy on your own terms, and co-create a relationship framework that accommodates your specific needs: whether that’s managing the unpredictability of a chronic condition, navigating sensory sensitivities, or healing from relational trauma.
The goal is to transform challenges into opportunities for deeper connection and intimacy—fostering a partnership built on resilience, empathy, and a renewed sense of team.
If you’re ready for guidance that both celebrates your strengths and honors your complex realities: we’re here to help.
We can help you and your partner(s) build tools for:
- Secure attachment: building foundations of safety, trust, and emotional responsiveness while exploring attachment patterns.
- Conscious communication: understanding patterns of defensiveness, blame, and criticism of yourself and/or your partner(s).
- Navigating transitions: relationship therapy can help whether you’re deepening a commitment, opening a relationship, or considering conscious uncoupling or conscious unpartnering. Relationship therapy can also support shifting relationship dynamics as we age, explore gender, experience illness, and evolve through changes in parenting roles.
- Navigating “mixed” relationships: people of different genders, socioeconomic classes, cultures, ages, ethnicities/race, religion/spirituality, and neurotypes–and the shifting power dynamics that people in mixed relationships often encounter.
- Repair and reconnection: healing from betrayals, ruptures, and misunderstandings with grace and accountability.
- Intimacy and sexuality: exploring desire, eroticism, and connection in a shame-free environment.
We work with:
Individuals
Individual relationship therapy is a powerful space to express the things you don’t feel you can say to your partner(s), process past hurts and trauma, explore your attachment styles, break patterns, and cultivate the self-awareness we need in healthy relationships.
Couples and multiples
The relationship unit itself is our client. We provide a neutral space for partners (whether 2, 3 or more) to address conflicts, enhance intimacy, negotiate your own “rules,” and align on values. We are experienced Portland-based alternative relationships therapists who understand the unique joys and challenges of multi-partner dynamics. Let us handle the facilitation.
We take alternative relationships seriously
We take your relationship seriously. We understand and respect the different dynamics, values, and complexities of nontraditional relationships. You will never have to waste session time explaining the basic principles of queerness/LGBTQ+, polyamory, kink, or gender identity to us.
We get it; and we honor it.
