Professional Counselor Associate (OR)
Everyone has the ability to heal, recover and make life changes. Our work together will be collaborative, and will provide you with new tools that you can put into practice—but with a safety net of support and guidance. No matter how unreachable that may feel to you, I know it is possible.
I primarily work with adults of all ages who are LGBTQ+ and straight allies, struggling with life’s challenges and willing and ready for change. I also enjoy working with preteens and teens. I excel at supporting clients as they navigate their path to self-understanding, and ultimately to self-compassion and love.
My favorite part of being a therapist is witnessing those client breakthroughs that are so hard-won through building trust. I would love nothing more than to help with your personal growth and recovery. I create non-judgmental, therapeutic relationships that begin with acceptance and curiosity so clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to advance their lives.
My foundation as a therapist is attachment-based and client-centered, which means that I will meet you where you are at and support you through discovering where you want to go. This approach is informed by psychodynamic, existential, feminist and family systems theories.
A cornerstone to my approach is working with family systems to ensure the success of my clients, which requires a variety of modalities that are determined on a client-by-client basis. I use interventions and techniques from evidenced-based practices to support the therapeutic process including:
- Expressive arts, music and mindfulness techniques
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Narrative and Play Therapy
- Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
My experience includes working with individuals managing:
- Coming out/internalized oppression
- Identity work
- History of trauma
- Challenging life transitions
- Parenting support
- Addiction/sobriety maintenance
As a committed life-long learner, I keep an open eye for opportunities to broaden my experience and lens.
