I teach in the School of Social Work at PSU and work with individuals and organizations. I’m what’s called “client-centered” in my approach. Your story, culture and values are at the heart of the time we spend together. Your goals and desires are all achievable. Through listening, understanding and honest discussion we will discover your true self and intuition. Joy is possible as is the ability to give joy to others around you.

I will help you learn to spend time on what matters most to you.

Working together, you will:

1) Grow and recognize your own power and instinct.

2) Harness your energy so that you have room for fun, love and the work you most enjoy.

I want you to learn and grow so that you can be your best and give your best.

Issues I specialize in:

Some of my approaches include:

My background is in psychodynamic and narrative therapy and I implement Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Self Compassion and Internal Family Systems or Parts Work into my practice. Mindfulness and many other tools are also used to help clients find connection to their deeper selves:

  • Conflict Resolution Therapy
  • Mindfulness Based Approaches
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Systems Theory /Therapy
  • Socratic Dialogue or critical thinking
  • Positive Psychology
  • Internal Family Systems
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Social work supervision

For the past 20 years I have worked in community housing and helped new social workers, interns and staff develop professionally, become licensed or graduate with useful field experience that engages them and is driven by their desire to learn and grow. I have also created and taught workshops in supervision, outcomes for social work and best practices for de-escalation. Recently, I developed a course on the brain and body and how we are effected by trauma; called Trauma Informed Practice. Teaching and supervising are near and dear to my heart because these acts also increase my learning and enable me to share with others an approach to working with people that is kind, trauma informed and able to help those in need while caring for self. I have completed a 30-hour course in clinical supervision for Social Work and Counseling and have been accredited for supervision of licensure for Social Workers in Oregon.
